The buzz for Feb. 4, 2011:

In Friday’s Opinion pages, Wisconsin native and Los Angeles attorney Mark Neubauer argues for a football team that’s owned by the public. ‘For more than 90 years, this little hick town of 100,000 has persevered with a major-league NFL franchise while mighty Los Angeles has not,’ Neubauer writes. He’s talking about the Green Bay and the Packers.

Meanwhile, Harold Meyerson writes about the GOP’s resistance to Gov. Jerry Brown’s tax proposals as well as a public vote. ‘If [Republicans in the Legislature are] looking for further cuts in state spending, why don’t they ax their own salaries?’ asks Meyerson. ‘In a just world, the pay for doing nothing -- and keeping anyone else from doing anything -- would be nothing.’ Readers who feel ‘taxed out,’ are pushing back on the comments board, making for a great debate. Though we can’t say we agree with the commenter who says Democrats don’t work.
