‘Call it the McVictim syndrome,’ writes David Gratzer, a physician and a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. “Too many pundits, public health experts and politicians are working overtime to find scapegoats for America’s obesity epidemic […] How long before we’re told that the devil made us eat it?’ In his op-ed, he lists external factors, even pollution, that have been blamed for obesity. The truth, he says, is that in most cases, ‘obesity is a preventable condition.’

Weighing in on the issue, commenters say overweight people need to stop eating carbs and they need to walk more. They’re also saying that Americans shouldn’t cover the healthcare bills of people who suffer from obesity. What do you think?
