Doyle McManus joined Larry Mantle this morning on KPCC’s ‘Air Talk’ to discuss the fate of Nancy Pelosi. McManus’ hunch -- and it’s just a hunch -- is that she’s in it to win it and will then retire.

‘I think Nancy Pelosi wants to win this race and keep her job for two reasons. One is, she’s a very competitive person and she’s earned it, and she’s not the kind of person to back down from a fight. But the second is, she and others in her caucus don’t want to concede to the Republicans on the argument that they failed. They would rather make the argument that they hit a patch of bad luck, they hit a bad economy, they hit the perfect storm. I would not be surprised to see Nancy Pelosi fight this battle, win the job, make her point, do it for a year, and then retire.’
