Poll: Will you buy Sarah Palin's new book?
Top of the morning, Opinion L.A. followers! I thought I'd start off the day by gathering a snapshot of our readers' feelings on Sarah Palin's book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," which comes out today.
Take our unscientific poll, leave a comment or do both (my vote: I hope someone gives it to me for Christmas).

I won't buy here book, but if she run in the Republican primaries for the presidential nomination I'll send her money. Oh, by the way, I'm a long-time Democrat and I'd love to see her as the Republican presidential nominee.

I don't plan to buy it. I think the next election is a great opportunity for the republican party, and hope they can pull out a more serious candidate to run. Palin is too gimmicky. But sadly many of the fanatics in the party seem to get caught up in gimmicks.

If the mavericky maverick herself sent me an autographed copy of the book, I would sell it at a premium on e-bay to one of the many suckers out there who actually believe she has something to say. I would not open it, so they would get a pristine copy. Sarah Palin is one on the long list of the names of people we shouldn't know, but do.

To purchase a Sarah Palin's book..? I have to be out of my mind.
She is NOT worth it to read, And Not to mention that she is an unscrupulous lier opportunist.
The republicans are using her as a comuflage.

If you are under 13 years of age you may buy Sarah Palin's book for its shining cover, but you may not gain insight or knowledge by reading it. Here is the woman we know not by her intellectual capacity but by her cabability to win a popularity contest. Popularity contest are a show to watch, but will not be won by reading.

Isn't it time we stopped running morons for political office? As for buying their books, I think the NIH should review it to see if it might cause brain damage before allowing it to be sold at all.

Neither a dem or rep, but an Alaskan who chooses to not waste my reading time on politicos et al, prefer non-fiction first person accounts.

I will buy Palin's book because I am curious as to the other point of view. Obviously she is going to be massacured in the Times left wing pages. I don't think she is going to be president and she is not qualified to be President. The only line she could get in front of for experience is the one ahead of Obama and Bidden. I notice Biden was never critized by the left and it is clear and laughable that he is almost a complete idiot and makes palin look brilliant

Oh hell no.

Not even slightly interested in reading her book... but, you know its funny... Although I think she is completely deserving of all the criticism she gets, there is something that is hard to look away from. Kind of like Anna Nicole Smith or Tsunami footage. I know that sounds really wierd, but seriously, its the idea of looking at something and just not being able to wrap one's head around how something so bizarre and tragic can also remain so culturally relevant, long after its initial impact. I have to give her props for her ambition though, as misguided as her sense of self-importance is. And it does scare me to think about how many people view her as a qualified leader, just because they like her limited perspective on the world. I'm sure she would be a hoot to have at a backyard BBQ, but let's face it she's a hick... an ambitious hick... but a hick no less.

I'll browse a bit in it in the bookstore. I expect to find rubbish.

We have a war brewing between the right who is desperate for a candidate, and the left that can't admit to anything wrong with their candidate. We have a system that usually picks extremists (no matter which side of the aisle) or terrible compromise candidates. The only realistic way to have some normalcy is to be sure no party controls the presidency and both houses.
The personal attacks need to stop, no matter which side they are directed. Even the worst of them have worked harder for the public good than 99% of us, no matter how incompetent you think they are. You don't have to attack someones intelect, race, or religion just because you don't go along with their idiological beliefs. Vote them out, but be civil about it.

Dictionary says on Rogue
1.a dishonest, knavish person; scoundrel.
2. a playfully mischievous person; scamp: The youngest boys are little rogues.
3. a tramp or vagabond.
4. a rogue elephant or other animal of similar disposition.
5. Biology. a usually inferior organism, esp. a plant, varying markedly from the normal.
I tend to think of Palin as number 1 and 5

Liberals and those who already hate Palin won't buy her book of course. Her legions of supporters and true open minded people will. Oprah had to have her on as a big ratings draw. Pre-orders are setting records. The media hates her since is everything Hilllary is not. Sarah might yet be the 1st female president.
Posted by: Lauro | November 17, 2009 at 03:47 PM
Of course 74% of people who take the poll on the L.A. Times Website won't read Palin's book. Liberals don't like to read...unless it's elementary level reading like the Times ;) Maybe Palin should come out with a picture big lettered version for all you liberals =)

If I owned a bird or a dog, then I'd have a use for Palin's book lol

I stand with Palin.
Posted by: Valdez | November 17, 2009 at 04:24 PM
she quit as governor, remember?...if you think that she did the right thing, raise your hand !!
Go on, raise it. I still can't see you.

Team Sarah has been notified and is asking all of its members to vote in the poll in an effort for her to win. They always are out to protect their queen!

People in Alaska just aren't interested MUCH, also too.
I hope they didn't go to a second printing on account of Alaskans, by the looks of the shelves here, Alaskans aren't buying her words any more than they bought her "poor me" status.
Maybe the stores can send the surplus books up North for heating fuel this winter...now wouldn't that be Alaskan justice.

I stand by Sarah 100%.
Her ability to affect national policy from her Facebook page is stunning.

Will I buy the book? Heck no. The bush admin scared me plenty, my heart won't take anymore.
Posted by: Tom Harris | November 18, 2009 at 04:34 AM
All you libs are soooo afraid of Ms. Palin. There is one nut on this post that says that she is not qualified to be president. I guess that means that the man-child, Obama a guy that never held down a real job, is qualified? That clown is going to go down as the worst president in history!
And I thought nobody could top Jimmy Carter. Fools.
How's that hope and change goin' for you? Ha Ha.

Alan Colmes on Bill O'reilly show was very critical of Palin's book but under questioning from Bill he admitted he hadn't read it. This kind of practice is very unfair and does not add anything to the discussion.
Posted by: Robert | November 18, 2009 at 10:16 AM
I wouldn't even use it for toilet paper....
Posted by: lrc | November 18, 2009 at 10:35 AM
She's welcome to the income the book and her fans provide. Good for her on that count. She's completely unqualified as a Presidential candidate, and I'm neither Dem or Rep. She's just not good enough. It's time we raised the standards for our political candidates. In case you haven't noticed, the country is a mess thanks to eight years of foreign wars, pork barrel spending, deregulated banking and sinking economy. Do you really think this woman can tackle any of that? Please put the country first - to hell with partisan voting.
Posted by: MA | November 18, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Even John Mc Cain had a negative comment about her book. She is not an intellectual - she is uneducated but popular with those who like her looks and her lingo - certainly not Presidential material! On intelligence, Hillary could run rings around her. She needs to stay in Alaska and take care of her family. I would not read her book it it was a gift - much less waste money to buy it.
Posted by: kathy | November 18, 2009 at 10:41 AM
Her lack of understanding on most issues is amazing. She would make a good talk show host.
Posted by: Larry | November 18, 2009 at 11:09 AM
Trust me, the Democrats love Sarah Palin. She gets the evangelical & neodonfederate vote and thats really about it. Even my Republican brother-in-law who finds her "interesting" wouldn't vote for her is she were to run for dog catcher.
A Palin presidential run would send independents to the Democrats and that's okay by them.
Posted by: liz | November 18, 2009 at 11:38 AM
I would like to know how Ms. Palin sees America. She is always saying that the Pres. does not see it like she and
we do. Also who are we?
Posted by: thomas moore | November 18, 2009 at 06:14 PM
I think she just got a best seller cause she is famous. I just read a new novel by a new author that was terrific, called "Dalton Shores," but because it's by an unknown, will probably never reach the status of Palin's book.
Posted by: Eileen O'shea | November 18, 2009 at 10:33 PM
Palin clearly gets unfair media treatment because she's an outspoken conservative woman. And anyone that doesn't subscribe to a liberal leftist
mindset is bullied. This just shows the blatant hypocrisy of the left and leftist need to recognize they violate conservatives first ammendment to free speech with this bullying.
Posted by: reallyreal | November 19, 2009 at 12:03 PM
All this Palin bashing/hate is just going to backfire on the liberals. She, Palin, will arouse sympathy and a much bigger following, while the liberals will be seen as the intolerant sexist bigots they are.
Obama,by 2012, and his policies will have crippled this country to the point that anyone could win against him.
ANYONE

Reality TV is popular for no apparent reason but it creates celebrities. Palin became a celebrity politician. The American fascination for celebrities has created a market for her mindless prattle. She is using her book sales to pay her bills and perhaps to begin a fund for her next political position. The horror!
Posted by: Rudy Retamoza | November 24, 2009 at 10:58 AM
I hope that Sara makes enough money to fund a run for the presidency. She is the true standard bearer of the republican party. Which is why I'm a democrat.
Posted by: ellen | December 03, 2009 at 09:06 AM
Why?
Posted by: Regats | December 09, 2009 at 11:01 AM
Sara is a cheap tramp who does not want to work as you can see by her quiting as her post. She only wants to make money on speaches or books. She will let you down if ellected. I am pulling out of the party because of her.
