Larry Gelbart, the master wit of satirical musicals (''A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum''), film (''Tootsie'') and television (''MASH'') is quick out of the blocks on the Republican ticket.
In an email to friends, he summed up John McCain's choice as ''McCain's blind date with destiny.'' As for Sarah Palin herself, he wrote, ``it strikes me, after hearing all of the Republican double-talking point talkers that we are witnessing the elevation of Sarah Palin into Joan of Arctic.''

McCain reminds me of Walt on Northern Exposure, so he might as well pick an alaskan babe.
