Earth Day -- Choke On It?

So a big stretch of Wilshire Boulevard is being shut down today to all but foot traffic, in honor of Earth Day. Strolling the boulevard named after a millionaire socialist, Gaylord Wilshire, will no doubt be a pleasure, and a reminder of how delightful car-free living can be.

But did anyone who thought up this ''honor'' also think of how many extra tons of carbon emissions will be burbling into the atmosphere today because of the traffic jams created by this one-day pedestrian oasis?

Earth to LA -- thanks a bunch.
