EMI, Apple and DRM

April 2, 2007 | 12:10 pm

EMI has finally found a way to persuade Apple to raise the price of a digital music download: remove the most annoying feature (the electronic locks) and improve the sound quality (to appease the small portion of the market that could hear the difference between a CD and a yet more compressed download). Read more about it at the Bit Player blog.
I'll give a hat tip to my colleagues on the news side here, who had the story yesterday. It's a sad commentary on the LA Times' place in the blogosphere that hasn't been one mention yet on Techmeme of my newspaper's take, although dozens of others (who were later to the party) get a nod. Sigh.

1.

It’s a new day.

It’s a new day,
here, where the light
of my sunshine
appears like a soul
in a springtime.
It’s a wonderful day,
beautiful birds
escape in the valley
remembering the breath
of a young lullaby,
and also, in the air,
a tender delight
discovers a pleasure.
